Long and difficult way to diagnosis!
A patient born in 1991 was referred for video capsule endoscopy by a gastroenterologist. And not in vain!
The patient had been treated for a long time in the United States with a diagnosis of chronic pancreatitis. The main symptoms were severe steatorrhoea, which was not corrected even by very high doses of enzyme drugs.
During anamnesis, it turned out that the patient had previously had severe edema, so he was prescribed Furosemide.
The video capsule endoscopy showed multiple lymphangiectasias in the c/3 of the jejunum. Conclusion: Whipple's disease? A set of biopsies from the jejunum was recommended.
Histology confirmed the diagnosis of Whipple's disease. The patient is being treated by a gastroenterologist.
