Exophytic neoplasm in the jejunum
August 18, 2023
Patient B, 64 years old, had a history of 4 gastrointestinal bleeds of unclear origin over the past month and a half. The patient was repeatedly examined, but to no avail, and had already lost hope of recovery. Her haemoglobin levels dropped to 57 g/l, and she received blood transfusions to correct them. The last gastroscopy and colonoscopy were performed at the place of residence. No source of bleeding was found, and the patient was referred for video capsule endoscopy.
According to the results of video capsule endoscopy, the patient was diagnosed with an exophytic neoplasm in the jejunum measuring about 1 cm.
The patient successfully underwent resection of the duodenum with the neoplasm. During the operation, a thrombosed vessel was found in the mass.
The histological findings were a hyperplastic polyp with capillary dilatation and stasis.
